⏱️ Total Time: About 2½ hours (mostly hands-off)
Ingredients
For the Ribs:
-
2 racks (about 3–4 lbs) pork baby back ribs or spare ribs
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
1 tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp smoked paprika (optional but adds great depth)
For the Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce:
-
½ cup honey
-
¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
-
¼ cup brown sugar
-
3–4 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
-
1 tbsp ketchup (adds color and tang)
-
½ tsp chili flakes (optional, for a kick)
-
1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (to thicken, optional)
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the ribs
-
Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
-
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs (for tenderness).
-
Rub ribs all over with olive oil, then season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
-
Wrap each rack tightly in foil and place on a baking sheet.
2. Bake
-
Bake for 2–2½ hours, until ribs are tender but not falling apart.
-
Drain off any excess liquid carefully.
3. Make the sticky sauce
-
In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, vinegar, ketchup, and chili flakes.
-
Bring to a simmer over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, until slightly thickened.
-
(Optional) Stir in cornstarch slurry if you prefer a thicker glaze.
4. Glaze & caramelize
-
Preheat oven to broil (500°F / 260°C) or fire up your grill.
-
Brush ribs generously with the honey garlic sauce.
-
Broil or grill for 5–7 minutes, turning and basting once or twice, until sauce becomes sticky and caramelized.
5. Serve
-
Slice ribs between bones and drizzle with extra sauce.
-
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
💡 Tips for Perfect Ribs
-
Tender meat: Slow and low baking makes them juicy and easy to pull apart.
-
Don’t skip the glaze step: It gives you that shiny, sticky coating.
-
Make extra sauce: You’ll want more for dipping or drizzling.
