🧾 Components

1. Teriyaki Chicken Wings

Sweet, sticky, umami-packed wings baked or air-fried.

2. Steamed White Rice

Simple and fluffy, perfect to soak up extra sauce.

3. Broccoli with Cheese Sauce

Tender broccoli with creamy cheddar sauce — comfort food meets veggie side.


🍗 Teriyaki Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 2–3 lbs chicken wings (drums and flats)

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • Salt & pepper

Homemade Teriyaki Sauce:

  • ½ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (or ½ tsp ground)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or set air fryer to 375°F.

  2. Toss wings in a bit of oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet or in air fryer basket.

  3. Bake for 40–45 min, flipping halfway, or air fry for 25–30 min until crispy and cooked through.

  4. While wings cook, make teriyaki sauce:

    • Combine all sauce ingredients (except slurry) in a small pot. Simmer 5 mins.

    • Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.

  5. Toss cooked wings in warm teriyaki sauce to coat.

Optional garnish: sesame seeds, chopped scallions.


🍚 Steamed White Rice

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white rice

  • 2 cups water

  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse rice under cold water until clear.

  2. Combine rice, water, and salt in a pot. Bring to boil.

  3. Cover, reduce to low, and simmer 18–20 minutes. Let sit 5 minutes, fluff with fork.

Shortcut: Use a rice cooker or microwaveable rice pack.


🥦 Broccoli with Cheese Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • 1½ cups milk

  • 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Optional: pinch of garlic powder or paprika

Instructions:

  1. Steam broccoli until bright green and tender (about 4–5 minutes). Set aside.

  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and whisk for 1 min.

  3. Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth. Cook until slightly thickened (about 3–5 mins).

  4. Remove from heat, stir in cheese until melted. Season to taste.

  5. Spoon cheese sauce over broccoli when serving.

Build your plate:

  • Scoop of white rice

  • Pile of sticky teriyaki wings

  • Side of cheesy broccoli
