Here’s a complete guide to making a classic apple pie—warm, comforting, and perfectly sweet! 🍎🥧

Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

For the Filling:

  • 6–8 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ¾ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (to thicken)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

For the Crust:

  • 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    • Set oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the Filling
    • In a bowl, mix apple slices with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. Assemble the Pie
    • Place one crust in a pie pan.
    • Add apple mixture and dot with butter.
    • Cover with the top crust (lattice or full) and seal edges.
  4. Egg Wash & Venting
    • Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
    • Cut small slits to let steam escape.
  5. Bake
    • Bake 45–50 minutes until the crust is golden and filling bubbles.
    • Optional: cover edges with foil if browning too fast.
  6. Cool & Serve
    • Let cool 10–15 minutes before slicing.
    • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Tips for Perfect Apple Pie

  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for depth of flavor.
  • Don’t overfill; too much filling can make the crust soggy.
  • Blind bake the bottom crust for extra crispiness (optional).
