🥪 Classic Bacon and Tomato Sandwich
Ingredients (makes 2 sandwiches)
-
6–8 slices bacon
-
4 slices hearty sandwich bread (white, sourdough, or whole grain)
-
1–2 ripe tomatoes, sliced
-
2–3 tbsp mayonnaise (or aioli)
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
Optional additions: lettuce, avocado slices, or fresh basil leaves
Instructions
-
Cook the bacon
-
In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy (about 8–10 minutes).
-
Drain on paper towels.
-
-
Toast the bread
-
Lightly toast bread slices to your liking.
-
While warm, spread each slice with mayonnaise.
-
-
Assemble the sandwiches
-
Layer tomato slices on one slice of bread.
-
Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper (this brings out the tomato’s flavor!).
-
Add crispy bacon on top.
-
(Optional: add lettuce or avocado if you like a BLT-style sandwich.)
-
Top with the second slice of bread.
-
-
Serve
-
Slice in half and serve immediately — best when the bacon is still warm and the tomatoes are juicy.
-
💡 Tips
-
Use thick-cut bacon for extra crunch and flavor.
-
For a fresh twist, try herb mayo: mix 2 tbsp mayo with chopped basil, parsley, or a squeeze of lemon juice.
-
Want to elevate it? Add a slice of fresh mozzarella or sharp cheddar — turns it into a BLT–grilled cheese hybrid!
