🎄🍫 Christmas Crack (Saltine Toffee Bark)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 40 saltine crackers (enough to line a standard 9×13 baking sheet)

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed

  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)

  • Optional toppings:

    • Crushed peppermint, sprinkles, M&Ms, chopped nuts, sea salt, or toffee bits

🔪 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).

  • Line a rimmed 9×13 baking sheet with foil or parchment and lightly spray with nonstick spray.

  • Arrange saltines in a single layer to cover the bottom completely.

2️⃣ Make the Toffee

  • In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat.

  • Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly (it will bubble and thicken).

  • Pour the hot toffee evenly over the crackers and spread quickly with a spatula.

3️⃣ Bake

  • Bake in the oven for 5 minutes, until the toffee is bubbling.

4️⃣ Add Chocolate

  • Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee.

  • Let sit for 1–2 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly with a spatula.

5️⃣ Top & Chill

  • Add your favorite toppings while chocolate is still warm.

  • Refrigerate or freeze for about 30 minutes or until fully set.

6️⃣ Break Apart

  • Once cooled and hardened, break into pieces (“crack”) and store in an airtight container.

✅ Tips

  • Use graham crackers or Ritz crackers for a twist.

  • Want extra crunch? Add a layer of crushed pretzels on top of the chocolate.

  • Stores well for up to 1 week at room temp, or 2 weeks in the fridge.
