Creamy homemade garlic sauce

Posted on April 3, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple, creamy homemade garlic sauce recipe that’s rich, tangy, and perfect for dipping, drizzling, or spreading. It uses everyday ingredients and can be whipped up in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients (Makes ~1 cup)

  • 4–5 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1–2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1–2 tablespoons water (optional, to thin)
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon black pepper or a pinch of paprika

Instructions

  1. Mash the Garlic:
    • Crush the garlic cloves using a mortar and pestle, or finely mince them. For a milder taste, blanch the cloves in hot water for 1 minute before mashing.
  2. Mix Base Ingredients:
    • In a bowl, combine mayonnaise (or yogurt) with lemon juice and salt.
  3. Incorporate Olive Oil:
    • Slowly whisk in olive oil until the mixture becomes creamy and smooth.
  4. Adjust Consistency:
    • If the sauce is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons of water until it reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Optional Flavor Boosts:
    • Add black pepper, paprika, or chopped herbs (like parsley or cilantro) for extra flavor.
  6. Chill Before Serving:
    • Refrigerate for 30 minutes to let flavors meld.

Tips for Maximum Creaminess

  • Use room-temperature ingredients for smoother blending.
  • Whisk vigorously or use a food processor/blender for an ultra-smooth texture.
  • For a vegan version, substitute mayonnaise with vegan mayo or silken tofu.

💡 Serving Ideas:

  • As a dip for fries, veggies, or chicken
  • Spread on sandwiches, wraps, or burgers
  • Drizzle over roasted vegetables or grilled seafood

If you want, I can also give a super garlicky, restaurant-style version that’s silky and doesn’t taste raw—it’s amazing for shawarma or Mediterranean dishes. Do you want me to do that?
