Dump and Bake Meatball Casserole

If you’re looking for a quick, hearty, and family-friendly dinner, this dump-and-bake meatball casserole is a perfect choice. The best part is that you don’t need to cook the pasta or meatballs beforehand. Simply combine the ingredients in a baking dish, place it in the oven, and let it cook to perfection. It’s simple, satisfying, and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked pasta (penne, rotini, or ziti work well)
  • 2 cups marinara or pasta sauce
  • 2 cups water or beef broth
  • 1½ cups frozen meatballs
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Combine the ingredients
In a large baking dish, add the uncooked pasta, marinara sauce, water (or broth), frozen meatballs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together so the pasta is evenly coated.

3. Cover and bake
Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 35–40 minutes. This allows the pasta to cook and absorb the flavors of the sauce.

4. Add the cheese
Remove the foil, sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.

5. Bake again
Return the dish to the oven uncovered for 10–15 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.

Serving Suggestions

  • Garnish with fresh parsley or basil for extra flavor.
  • Serve with garlic bread or a simple green salad.
  • Add vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers for extra nutrition.

Tips for the Best Casserole

  • Use fully cooked frozen meatballs to save time.
  • Make sure the pasta is mostly covered by liquid so it cooks properly.
  • If the casserole looks dry, add a little extra sauce before baking.

Final Thoughts

This dump-and-bake meatball casserole is perfect for busy weeknights, potlucks, or family dinners. With minimal preparation and simple ingredients, it delivers a warm, comforting meal that everyone will enjoy. 🍝🧀
