Here’s a simple, hearty Ground Beef and Chopped Cabbage skillet—fast, budget-friendly, and really satisfying 🥬🥩
It’s one of those meals that tastes better than it looks and comes together in about 30 minutes.
Ground Beef & Cabbage Skillet (Classic & Cozy)
Ingredients (Serves 3–4)
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ head green cabbage, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil (if beef is lean)
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika (smoked if you have it)
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- ¼–½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Optional add-ins
- 1 tbsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp caraway seeds (classic with cabbage)
- Cooked rice or potatoes for serving
Instructions
1. Brown the beef
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
Drain excess grease if needed.
2. Add onion & garlic
Add onion and cook 3–4 minutes until soft.
Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
3. Add cabbage
Add chopped cabbage to the skillet.
It will look like a lot—this is normal.
4. Season & cook
Add salt, pepper, paprika, and any optional seasonings.
Stir well, cover, and cook 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender.
5. Taste & finish
Adjust seasoning.
Add a splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire if you want more depth.
