Here’s a bright and cozy bake: Orange Raisin Scones — tender, buttery scones infused with citrus zest and dotted with sweet raisins. Perfect with a cup of tea or coffee, these scones are easy to make and even easier to enjoy warm from the oven.

🍊🍇 Orange Raisin Scones

🧾 Ingredients (Makes 8 scones)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

  • ½ cup raisins (golden or regular)

  • Zest of 1 large orange

  • ⅔ cup heavy cream (or whole milk)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp orange juice (for extra citrus punch)

🥣 For the Glaze (optional)

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tbsp orange juice

  • Optional: pinch of orange zest

🔪 Instructions

1. Preheat & Prep

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and orange zest.

3. Cut in the Butter

  • Add cold butter pieces and cut in with a pastry blender or fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  • Stir in the raisins.

4. Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk cream, egg, vanilla, and orange juice (if using).

  • Pour into the dry mixture and stir just until a soft dough forms (don’t overmix).

5. Shape the Dough

  • Turn out onto a floured surface. Gently knead 2–3 times and pat into a 1-inch thick circle.

  • Cut into 8 wedges (like a pizza) and place on baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.

6. Bake

  • Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.

  • Cool slightly on a wire rack.

7. Glaze (Optional)

  • Mix powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth.

  • Drizzle over warm or cooled scones.

✅ Tips:

  • Use cold ingredients for the flakiest texture.

  • Want extra shine? Brush tops with cream or beaten egg before baking.

  • Add 1–2 tbsp chopped candied orange peel for extra citrus flair.
