Recipe for Orange Slice Candies with Powdered Sugar and Pecans

Posted on February 8, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a complete, easy-to-follow recipe for Orange Slice Candies with Powdered Sugar and Pecans:

Orange Slice Candies with Powdered Sugar and Pecans

Ingredients

  • 2 large oranges
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (plus extra for coating)
  • ¾ cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the oranges
    • Wash the oranges thoroughly.
    • Slice them into thin rounds, about ¼ inch thick.
    • Remove any seeds carefully.
  2. Dry the slices
    • Pat the slices dry with a paper towel to remove moisture. This helps the sugar stick.
  3. Coat with powdered sugar
    • Lightly coat each orange slice on both sides with powdered sugar.
    • Shake off any excess sugar.
  4. Add the pecans
    • Press chopped pecans onto one side of each slice so they adhere to the sugar.
    • Sprinkle a little extra powdered sugar on top if desired.
  5. Set the candies
    • Place the slices on a parchment-lined tray.
    • Let them sit at room temperature for 1–2 hours to firm slightly, or refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.
  • Perfect for holiday trays, dessert platters, or as a sweet snack.

Storage

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Best consumed within 2–3 days.

Tips

  • For a chewier candy-like texture, dry the slices in a low oven (200°F / 95°C) for 1–2 hours before coating.
  • Walnuts or almonds can replace pecans if desired.

I can also make a no-bake, super quick 15-minute version that’s soft, chewy, and ready to enjoy immediately.
