That green dot on your Android phone is a privacy indicator 👀
What it means
The green dot shows up when an app is actively using your camera or microphone.
- 🎥 Camera in use → green dot
- 🎤 Microphone in use → green dot
(Some phones also show an icon inside the dot to tell which one.)
Why it’s there
Android added this to help you spot apps accessing sensitive hardware in real time, so nothing’s listening or watching without you knowing.
Want to see which app?
- Swipe down from the top of your screen
- Look at the Quick Settings / notification panel
- Tap the indicator → it’ll show the app using the camera or mic
When to be concerned
- The dot appears when you’re not using a camera/mic app
- It shows up randomly or too often
If that happens, check:
Settings → Privacy → Permission manager → Camera / Microphone
If you want, tell me your Android version or phone model and I can give exact steps—or help you lock things down tighter 🔒
