🍏 Spiced Apple Cake

Pan: 9-inch round, 9×9-inch square, or bundt pan
🍴 Ingredients:
For the Cake:

2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour

1½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt
-
1½ tsp ground cinnamon
-
½ tsp ground nutmeg
-
¼ tsp ground cloves (optional but lovely)

½ cup (1 stick / 113g) unsalted butter, softened
-
½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
-
½ cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
-
2 large eggs
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
½ cup (120ml) plain yogurt, sour cream, or applesauce
-
2–3 medium apples, peeled and chopped (about 2 cups)

Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Optional Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

1 tbsp sugar + ½ tsp cinnamon, mixed
🔪 Instructions:
1. Preheat & Prep:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease and flour your baking pan (or line with parchment paper if using a square pan).
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
3. Cream Butter & Sugars:

In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).

Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
4. Combine:

Mix in yogurt/sour cream/applesauce until smooth.

Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.

Fold in chopped apples and nuts if using.
5. Bake:

Pour batter into prepared pan.

Sprinkle top with cinnamon sugar if desired.

Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
(Bundt pans may take closer to 55–60 minutes.)
6. Cool & Serve:

Let cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack.

Serve warm or at room temp.
