Ingredients

For the Sticky BBQ Chicken

  • 4 chicken thighs or chicken breasts
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Crispy Fries

  • 3 large potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste

For the Fresh Slaw

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Fries

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. Peel the potatoes (optional) and cut them into thin fries.
  3. Soak the fries in cold water for 20 minutes to remove excess starch.
  4. Drain and pat them completely dry.
  5. Toss the fries with cornstarch, oil, paprika, garlic powder, and salt.
  6. Spread them on a baking tray in a single layer.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.

2. Cook the Sticky BBQ Chicken

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. Cook the chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until browned and nearly cooked through.
  4. In a small bowl, mix BBQ sauce, honey, and soy sauce.
  5. Pour the sauce into the pan and coat the chicken well.
  6. Let it simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky.

3. Make the Fresh Slaw

  1. In a bowl, combine shredded cabbage and grated carrot.
  2. Add mayonnaise, lemon juice (or vinegar), sugar, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix well until everything is coated evenly.
  4. Chill in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes before serving.

Serving

Arrange the sticky BBQ chicken on a plate with a generous portion of crispy fries on the side. Add a scoop of fresh slaw for a refreshing crunch that balances the rich barbecue flavor.

You can also garnish with:

  • Fresh parsley
  • Extra BBQ drizzle
  • Lemon wedges

Tips for the Best Flavor

  • Marinate the chicken in the BBQ sauce for 1–2 hours for deeper flavor.
  • Double-fry or air-fry the fries for extra crispiness.
  • Add a pinch of chili flakes to the BBQ sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Use purple cabbage in the slaw for extra color and nutrition.

Sticky BBQ Chicken with Crispy Fries & Fresh Slaw is a delicious combination of sweet, savory, crispy, and fresh elements that make every bite satisfying. Perfect for a hearty homemade meal that feels like a restaurant-style treat. 🍗🍟🥗
