This dish hits every flavor note: salty, sweet, garlicky, and a little smoky. Perfect for dinner or game day. Here’s a foolproof, finger-licking recipe 👇

🍯 Sticky Honey Garlic Ribs

🍖 Serves: 4

⏱️ Total Time: About 2½ hours (mostly hands-off)

Ingredients

For the Ribs:

  • 2 racks (about 3–4 lbs) pork baby back ribs or spare ribs

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional but adds great depth)

For the Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • ½ cup honey

  • ¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

  • 1 tbsp ketchup (adds color and tang)

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional, for a kick)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (to thicken, optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the ribs

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs (for tenderness).

  3. Rub ribs all over with olive oil, then season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  4. Wrap each rack tightly in foil and place on a baking sheet.

2. Bake

  • Bake for 2–2½ hours, until ribs are tender but not falling apart.

  • Drain off any excess liquid carefully.

3. Make the sticky sauce

  1. In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, vinegar, ketchup, and chili flakes.

  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, until slightly thickened.

  3. (Optional) Stir in cornstarch slurry if you prefer a thicker glaze.

4. Glaze & caramelize

  1. Preheat oven to broil (500°F / 260°C) or fire up your grill.

  2. Brush ribs generously with the honey garlic sauce.

  3. Broil or grill for 5–7 minutes, turning and basting once or twice, until sauce becomes sticky and caramelized.

5. Serve

  • Slice ribs between bones and drizzle with extra sauce.

  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.

💡 Tips for Perfect Ribs

  • Tender meat: Slow and low baking makes them juicy and easy to pull apart.

  • Don’t skip the glaze step: It gives you that shiny, sticky coating.

  • Make extra sauce: You’ll want more for dipping or drizzling.

🍷 Serving Ideas

Serve with:

  • Garlic mashed potatoes

  • Roasted vegetables

  • Coleslaw or cornbread
