π§π Ultimate Double Cheeseburger Sourdough Stack
𧩠Concept:
Use two round or oval sourdough loaves as the base and top “crusts” instead of pizza dough. Hollow them slightly, stack them with cheeseburger fillings, and bake it all together.
π Ingredients
-
2 round or oval sourdough loaves
-
1 lb (450g) ground beef
-
Salt, pepper, garlic & onion powder
-
1 cup shredded cheddar
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella
-
Burger sauce (or ketchup + mustard mix)
-
Dill pickle slices
-
1/2 red onion, diced
-
Cooked bacon (optional)
-
Lettuce and tomato (for garnish after baking)
π οΈ Assembly Steps
1. Prep the Bread:
-
Cut the tops off both sourdough loaves like you would for a bread bowl.
-
Scoop out some of the inner bread to make space (but leave ~1″ wall so it holds shape).
2. Cook the Beef:
-
Brown ground beef in a skillet with seasoning.
-
Drain fat. Mix in a bit of mustard or ketchup if you like that “burger” tang.
3. Build the Bottom Loaf:
-
Spread a layer of burger sauce inside.
-
Add:
-
Beef
-
Cheese
-
Onions
-
Pickles
-
-
Press it all down gently.
4. Add the Stack:
-
Place the second loaf on top like a lid.
-
You can stuff it too if you want a mega-stacked version, or leave it hollow for a lighter finish.
-
Wrap the entire thing loosely in foil.
5. Bake It:
-
Bake at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 15β20 minutes, then uncover and bake another 5β10 to crisp the crust and melt the cheese.
6. Garnish & Serve:
-
Slice into wedges or thick sandwich-like slabs.
-
Top with lettuce, tomato, or extra sauce after baking.
π₯ Pro Tip:
Brush the outside of the sourdough with garlic butter before baking for a golden, flavorful crust.
