Making condensed milk at home is simple, cheap, and requires just two ingredients. It’s a great substitute for store-bought condensed milk and works well in desserts, coffee, and baking.


🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (about 500 ml)
  • ¾ cup sugar (about 150 g)

👩‍🍳 How to Make It

  1. Add milk and sugar to a saucepan.
  2. Heat on low to medium heat.
  3. Stir occasionally so the sugar dissolves and the milk doesn’t burn.
  4. Let it simmer for 30–40 minutes until it reduces and becomes thick.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool — it will thicken even more.

🍰 How to Use It

You can use homemade condensed milk in:

  • Coffee or tea ☕
  • Cakes and desserts 🎂
  • Puddings and custards
  • Fruit toppings

It tastes very similar to store brands like Nestlé condensed milk.


💡 Helpful Tips

  • Keep the heat low to prevent burning.
  • Stir more often when the milk starts thickening.
  • Store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

✅ Bonus trick:
If you want faster condensed milk, you can mix 1 cup milk powder + ½ cup sugar + ½ cup hot water and blend for a minute.
