This recipe is easy to follow and delivers restaurant-style flavor at home.

Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 500 g chicken (boneless thighs or breast pieces)
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tsp vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

For the Crispy Coating

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For Frying

  • Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

For the Honey Butter Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

1. Marinate the Chicken

  1. In a bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Add the chicken pieces and mix well so they are fully coated.
  3. Cover and let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for better flavor).

2. Prepare the Coating

  1. In another bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Remove each piece of chicken from the marinade and coat it thoroughly in the flour mixture.
  3. Press the coating onto the chicken to create a thicker, crispier crust.

3. Fry the Chicken

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan to about 170–180°C (340–350°F).
  2. Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil.
  3. Fry for 6–8 minutes or until golden brown and fully cooked.
  4. Remove the chicken and place it on paper towels to drain excess oil.

4. Make the Honey Butter Sauce

  1. In a small pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and chili flakes.
  4. Cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce becomes slightly thick and glossy.

5. Combine and Serve

  1. Place the crispy fried chicken in a large bowl.
  2. Pour the warm honey butter sauce over the chicken.
  3. Toss gently until the chicken is evenly coated.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Honey Butter Crispy Chicken with:

  • French fries
  • Steamed rice
  • Coleslaw
  • Fresh salad

You can also garnish with sesame seeds, chopped parsley, or green onions for extra flavor and presentation.

Tips for Extra Crispy Chicken

  • Let the coated chicken rest for 10 minutes before frying to help the crust stick better.
  • Use cornstarch in the coating for a lighter, crispier texture.
  • Double-fry the chicken for an even crunchier result.
  • Serve immediately to keep the coating crispy.

This Honey Butter Crispy Chicken delivers the perfect balance of crispy, sweet, savory, and buttery flavors, making it a crowd-pleasing dish that everyone will love. 🍗🍯🧈
