No need to scrub, just put the oven rack in a bag and it will be as good as new.

Ah, that sounds like a shortcut for cleaning a dirty oven rack! You’re describing the “bag method,” which is actually a neat hack:

Here’s how it works safely:

  1. Choose a heavy-duty trash bag or a large resealable bag that can handle some weight.
  2. Place the oven rack inside the bag.
  3. Add a cleaning agent—usually ammonia works best (about 1/4 cup), but you can also use vinegar and baking soda.
  4. Seal the bag and let it sit overnight. The fumes loosen baked-on grease and grime.
  5. Remove the rack the next day and wipe it down—usually very little scrubbing is needed.

⚠️ Safety tip: If using ammonia, do it in a well-ventilated area and never mix with bleach.

This trick basically lets the chemicals do all the work while containing the mess inside the bag. It’s almost like magic for old, greasy racks!

If you want, I can also give a version that uses only vinegar and baking soda—no harsh chemicals at all. It’s surprisingly effective. Do you want that version too?
