Dermatologists often recommend washing every day or every other day to remove excess oil and keep the scalp clean.

2. Normal Hair: Wash 2–3 Times per Week

3. Dry or Curly Hair: Wash Once or Twice a Week

Curly and dry hair tends to lose moisture more easily. Washing too often can make it frizzy and brittle. Many dermatologists suggest washing once or twice per week.


4. Coarse or Textured Hair: Every 7–10 Days

Hair that is thick or tightly curled often benefits from less frequent washing because natural oils take longer to travel down the hair shaft.


5. If You Have Dandruff

If you suffer from dandruff or a scalp condition like Seborrheic dermatitis, dermatologists may recommend more frequent washing with medicated shampoo to control flakes and irritation.
