How to remove the dark circle around the faucets

Posted on March 16, 2026 by Admin

The “dark circle” around faucets is usually mineral buildup, soap scum, or mild mold/mildew. It’s common around sinks and tubs where water constantly splashes. Here’s how to safely remove it and keep it from coming back:

🧼 Step 1: Gather Materials

  • White Vinegar (natural cleaner, dissolves mineral deposits)
  • Baking soda (optional, for scrubbing paste)
  • Soft toothbrush or sponge
  • Cloth or paper towels
  • Rubber gloves (optional)

🧽 Step 2: Apply Vinegar

  1. Soak a paper towel or cloth in white vinegar.
  2. Wrap it around the faucet base where the dark circle appears.
  3. Let it sit 10–15 minutes for mineral deposits to loosen.

🧹 Step 3: Scrub Gently

  • Use a soft toothbrush or sponge to scrub around the faucet.
  • For stubborn rings, make a paste with baking soda and water, apply it, then scrub.
  • Avoid steel wool or harsh abrasives that can scratch metal finishes.

💦 Step 4: Rinse and Dry

  • Wipe with a damp cloth to remove residue.
  • Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth to prevent new buildup.

🌟 Step 5: Prevent Future Rings

  • Wipe the faucet and sink dry after each use.
  • Use a mild vinegar solution once a week to keep minerals from building up.
  • For very hard water, consider installing a Water Softener.

✅ Bottom line:
White vinegar and gentle scrubbing are the safest ways to remove dark circles around faucets. Regular drying and light maintenance will prevent them from returning.
