Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

Here’s a simple and delicious Teriyaki Chicken recipe you can make at home:


🍗 Ingredients (Serves 2–4)

For the chicken:

  • 2–4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the teriyaki sauce:

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup mirin (sweet rice wine) or 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional if using honey)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)

Optional garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce:
    • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin/honey, sugar, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Cook the chicken:
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Season chicken lightly with salt and pepper.
    • Cook chicken 4–5 minutes per side (thicker cuts may take longer) until fully cooked.
  3. Add the sauce:
    • Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken in the skillet.
    • Let it simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    • Optional: Mix cornstarch with water and add to skillet to thicken the sauce.
  4. Serve:
    • Slice chicken if desired.
    • Spoon extra sauce over the top.
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  5. Pair with:
    • Steamed rice or noodles
    • Stir-fried vegetables

💡 Tip: For deeper flavor, marinate chicken in the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
