Old-Fashioned Pancakes

Here’s a classic Old-Fashioned Pancakes recipe that’s simple, fluffy, and perfect for breakfast:

Ingredients (makes about 8 pancakes)

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for cooking)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, beat the egg with milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Make the batter: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.
  4. Heat the pan: Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter.
  5. Cook pancakes: Pour about ¼ cup of batter per pancake onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2–3 minutes. Flip and cook another 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve: Stack pancakes and serve with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or your favorite toppings.
