After my son passed away, my daughter-in-law has no one except for me. She called me yesterday and said that something weird has been happening to her. She keeps finding a plastic bottle stuck on her tire after she leaves work. It really worries me. What could it mean?

I’m really sorry you and your family are going through this—it sounds very stressful. Based on what you’ve described, there are a few possibilities to consider, ranging from practical explanations to safety concerns:

1️⃣ Practical/Accidental Causes

  • Sometimes debris like plastic bottles can get caught accidentally in tire treads or fall off nearby vehicles.
  • If she parks in a busy or cluttered area, it might happen repeatedly by chance.

2️⃣ Harassment or Targeting

  • Leaving objects like a plastic bottle deliberately on a tire can sometimes be a warning or intimidation tactic.
  • It could be someone trying to scare her, possibly a coworker, neighbor, or someone who knows her routine.
  • Even if it seems minor, repeated actions like this should be taken seriously.

3️⃣ Superstitions or “Signs”

  • Some people interpret repeated strange occurrences as a warning or omen, but these are generally psychological reactions to stress or grief.
  • Since your daughter-in-law is grieving, it’s natural for her to be more sensitive to unusual events.

✅ What You Can Do

  1. Document everything
    • Take photos of the bottles and note the time, date, and location.
  2. Check surroundings
    • Encourage her to park in well-lit areas or near security cameras.
  3. Alert authorities if it continues
    • Repeated, unexplained actions could be considered harassment.
  4. Safety first
    • She could inspect her car before driving to make sure nothing is dangerous.
  5. Support her emotionally
    • She’s already grieving. Having someone listen and reassure her is very important.

If this keeps happening, it may be wise to contact local police or workplace security to investigate. Even if it turns out to be harmless, taking action can help her feel safer and less anxious.

If you want, I can also suggest ways to check her car and surroundings safely so she can feel secure each day. Do you want me to do that?
