🥔🧅 Fried Potatoes & Onions (easy recipe)

Ingredients

  • 2–3 medium potatoes (sliced or cubed)
  • 1 large onion (sliced)
  • 2–3 tbsp oil (vegetable or any cooking oil)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper (optional)
  • Spices optional: paprika, chili flakes, cumin

👨‍🍳 Method

  1. Prep the potatoes
    • Peel (optional) and slice thinly or into small cubes.
    • If you want extra crispiness, soak them in water for 10–15 minutes, then dry.
  2. Heat the pan
    • Add oil to a frying pan and heat on medium.
  3. Cook potatoes first
    • Add potatoes and fry for about 8–10 minutes.
    • Stir occasionally so they start getting golden.
  4. Add onions
    • Add sliced onions and mix.
    • Cook together for another 8–12 minutes until:
      • potatoes are golden and soft inside
      • onions are soft and slightly caramelized
  5. Season
    • Add salt, pepper, and any spices you like.
    • Stir well and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
  6. Serve hot
    • Best eaten fresh, crispy, and warm.

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan (helps crispiness)
  • Medium heat works best (high heat burns onions before potatoes cook)
  • A small pinch of turmeric or paprika gives great color
