That “just 2 ingredients to lose belly fat” line is almost always marketing hype, not real science.

The reality:

No drink, smoothie, or “2-ingredient recipe” can specifically melt belly fat. Fat loss doesn’t work locally—you can’t target just the belly. Your body loses fat overall based on:

  • calorie balance (eating less than you burn)
  • activity level
  • sleep and hormones
  • consistency over time

What those “recipes” usually are:

They’re often things like:

  • lemon + ginger water
  • apple cider vinegar + water
  • cucumber + mint detox drinks

These can be fine as low-calorie drinks, and they may:

  • slightly improve hydration
  • help you feel fuller (so you eat less)
