What’s the Small Round Hole on Your Nail Clipper For?

Posted on April 24, 2026 by Admin

That little round hole on a nail clipper actually has a couple of practical uses—it’s not just decorative.

1. Keychain attachment

The most common purpose: you can loop a keyring through that hole. That way, you can keep your nail clipper on your keys, bag, or travel kit so it’s always handy.

2. Grip and control

On some designs, the hole also helps with handling. When you’re using the clipper, your finger can rest near or over that opening, giving slightly better control and leverage.

3. Folding mechanism alignment (design purpose)

In many clippers, that hole is part of how the lever is manufactured and aligned with the pin that lets it rotate and fold. It helps keep the lever properly seated and functional.

So while it seems insignificant, that tiny hole makes the clipper more portable, usable, and structurally sound.
