A month before a stroke, your body warns you: 10 signs not to ignore

Posted on April 14, 2026 by Admin

A stroke can sometimes be preceded by warning symptoms—often called a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) or “mini-stroke.” But important fact first:

👉 Many strokes happen without any warning at all.
So you should never wait for “early signs” if symptoms appear.

That said, here are possible warning signs that may occur days to weeks before a stroke in some people:

⚠️ 10 Possible Warning Signs Before a Stroke

1. Sudden weakness or numbness (one side)

  • Face, arm, or leg weakness
  • Especially on one side of the body

2. Temporary speech problems

  • Slurred speech
  • Trouble finding words
  • Confusion while talking

3. Brief vision changes

  • Blurry vision
  • Loss of vision in one eye
  • Double vision

4. Sudden dizziness or loss of balance

  • Feeling unsteady while walking
  • Near-fainting episodes

5. Severe unusual headaches

  • Sudden, intense headache (especially if different from normal)

6. Short episodes of paralysis or weakness

  • Lasts minutes to hours, then improves (classic TIA sign)

7. Tingling or “pins and needles”

  • Especially on one side of face or body

8. Difficulty understanding others

  • You hear speech but cannot understand it properly

9. Sudden confusion or memory problems

  • Temporary disorientation or mental “fog”

10. Episodes of loss of coordination

  • Dropping objects
  • Trouble writing or using hands

🚨 Very Important: TIA is a warning emergency

If symptoms disappear after a few minutes or hours, it may still be a mini-stroke (TIA).

👉 About 1 in 3 people who have a TIA may later have a full stroke—often within days to months.
