Recipe: Infusion for swollen legs

Posted on April 21, 2026 by Admin

Swollen legs (often called edema) can have many causes—heat, standing long hours, salt intake, pregnancy, circulation issues, or medical conditions like heart/kidney problems. So an “infusion” may help mild fluid retention, but it’s not a cure if there’s an underlying issue.

Here are a few gentle, commonly used herbal infusions that may support fluid balance and reduce puffiness:

1. Parsley infusion (natural diuretic)

Ingredients:

  • 1 handful fresh parsley (or 1–2 tsp dried)
  • 1 cup hot water

Method:
Steep for 10–15 minutes, strain, and drink 1–2 cups per day.

Why people use it: Parsley is traditionally used to support kidney function and mild fluid removal.

2. Dandelion tea

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp dried dandelion leaf (or root)
  • 1 cup boiling water

Method:
Steep 10 minutes, strain, drink once or twice daily.

Note: Avoid if you have gallbladder problems or are on certain diuretics unless a doctor approves.

3. Ginger + lemon infusion (circulation support)

Ingredients:

  • 3–4 thin slices fresh ginger
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1 cup hot water

Method:
Steep ginger 10 minutes, add lemon after cooling slightly.

Why it helps: May improve circulation and reduce inflammation-related swelling.

4. Cucumber mint water (hydration balance)

Ingredients:

  • Sliced cucumber
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • 1 liter water

Method:
Let sit in fridge 2–4 hours and sip throughout the day.

Why it helps: Hydration + mild cooling effect can reduce water retention, especially in heat.

Important safety notes

  • If swelling is sudden, painful, one-sided, or persistent, it needs medical evaluation.
  • Reduce salt intake and avoid long periods of sitting/standing without movement.
  • Elevating legs above heart level also helps more than any infusion.
  • If you have conditions like heart, kidney, liver disease, or pregnancy, check with a doctor before using herbal diuretics.

If you want, I can also suggest a simple daily routine (diet + movement + drinks) specifically for reducing leg swelling in hot weather like in Multan.
